You can keep track of your progress in a course using the checkboxes by units or individual assignments. The boxes you check will be reflected in the course progress bar.
These boxes and the progress bar are visible when you are logged in to the system, whether or not you have enrolled in a course.
Note that for different courses, progress works differently -- for a number of courses, is it automatic based on having viewed a page; for many other courses, it is based on the unit or subunit level, rather than individual activities. For most business administration courses, progress is manually marked and specific to individual resources; we are in the process of making other courses work in this fashion.
These images from BUS300 show what we plan to do for all the courses; note the checkboxes in the first image and how they relate to progress shown in the progress bar.
In the course, you can hover over and click on any blue or green bar to go to related part of the course.
If the checkboxes seem to be missing
One quirk of progress tracking is that, when viewing a single resource, the box to check of progress is not visible.
Here is an example from CS101:
Students usually arrive at this single-resource view by clicking down through the course menu in the Navigation area. In the example above, clicking Back to '1.1.1:...' will reveal all the individual resources in unit 1.1.1 and the progress boxes for each of them, as below:
Navigating down to resources in the main content area avoids this problem (or will help you to go back and mark off your progress for a study session when you are ready to stop for the day).
